Wednesday night at the Barneys New York Downtown flagship, guests were welcomed with music courtesy of DJ Mikey Pop, sweet treats by Big Gay Ice Cream, and a room bursting with lively spirit befitting the festive occasion. The celebration of the evening was Pride with a capital P-R-I-D-E, and hosts Matthew Mazzucca, Phillip Picardi, and Timothy Chow brought a crowd enthusiastic to support our partner, The LGBT Community Center. Simon Doonan, Barneys’ Creative Ambassador-at-Large and new author of Soccer Style: The Magic and Madness, was also in attendance for a book signing and indulged his fans in many a photo op.
The store’s four floors were buzzing with guests sipping cocktails and shopping, as a portion of the evening’s sales were donated to The LGBT Community Center. In addition to honoring the community, the event also celebrated The Barneys New York Foundation social campaign #WhatPrideMeansToMe. The video launched on The Window earlier this week and features 13 LGBTQ personalities, activists, and allies sharing what the global movement means to them.
Celebrating at the event were participants of the campaign, including Antoni Porowski, Precious Lee, Elliott Sailors, Glennda Testone, Le1f, and Stacy Lentz, as were Barneys’ Fashion Director, Marina Larroude, designer Jonathan Adler, Kevin Tachman, Amirah Kassem, Cameron Bird, and more. Guests could wear buttons sharing what Pride means to them and contribute to a colorful wall featuring Connor stationery.
Though it was a night to remember, we’ll be celebrating Pride all month long. Here’s how you can take part: With every Instagram post sharing #WhatPrideMeansToMe throughout June, the Barneys New York Foundation pledges to donate $5 to The LGBT Community Center in support of their vital work and mission. Happy Pride!
