There are times when you walk into a space and are instantly infected by a sense of energy and excitement, and thanks to thedrop@barneys this weekend, our whole Madison Avenue flagship exuded that vibe. Our two-day event produced in collaboration with Highsnobiety saw crowds of fashion fanatics take to the sales floor for the chance to meet their favorite designers, be the first to shop exclusive collections that were released throughout the day Saturday, and take part in activities on every floor of the store. From tattoo artists to an espresso bar and from screen printing to piercing, you never knew what to expect. Add to that the styles dropped by brands like AMIRI, Off-White c/o Virgil Abloh, Heron Preston, and A-COLD-WALL*—to name only a few—and it was a truly unforgettable event.
The action continued Sunday with activities continuing throughout the store, topped off by a series of panel discussions, which were moderated by Highsnobiety and featured some of the biggest names in the biz. First up, Street Wear: A Women’s World brought into focus the emerging scene of women in the genre, thanks to insights from Emily Oberg, Tracey Mills, Anaa Saber, and Jackie Kim. That was followed up by The Spirit of DIY, which featured Guillermo Andrade, Greg Lauren, Samuel Ross, and Drew Caldwell.
