It was one for the books this weekend at Barneys Beverly Hills, as The Drop L.A., in partnership with Highsnobiety, took over the entire store for a massive celebration of art, culture, and style. There were tons of exclusive capsule collections that dropped in store and online, as well as designer appearances and fun activations and installations.
Live entertainment matched the buzzy mood in the store, with DJ sets from Mia Carucci, Siobhan Bell, Heron Preston, and DJ Mathematics. Around 6:30 p.m., when the store was in peak party mode, Wu-Tang took to the stage for an unprecedented live performance from RZA, GZA, Inspectah Deck, Masta Killa, Cappadonna, DJ Mathematics, and the late O.D.B.’s son Young Dirty Bastard. They also relaunched Wu Wear with an exclusive capsule collection available in store and online.
Throughout the store, our visuals team created one-of-a-kind, photo-worthy installations that harnessed the creativity of the Los Angeles community. There was a Prada Pachinko Parlor, a Fear of God installation, a Heron Preston NASA-inspired moon, a “Sliced by FILA” pizzeria, the Birkenstock Park serving Moon Juice refreshments, and a Barneys roller rink. Exclusive fine-jewelry pieces were housed in a live butterfly bar near Freds, and on Saturday guests had access to an array of activations, like screen printing, Fun City tattoos, J. Colby Smith piercings, Dolly Cohen Paris Grillz, Unistella manicures, and a variety of beauty and skin-care treatments. There was also a Balenciaga raffle with 100% of the proceeds benefiting Everytown for Gun Safety.
There were plenty of familiar faces among the throngs of shoppers, including Jordyn Woods and Justine Skye, who both launched an exclusive shoe collection with Barneys New York; Lucky Blue Smith; Zolee Griggs; Iman Shumpert; Jaden Smith; YG; Sami Miro; Patrick Schwarzenegger; Erin Foster; and more. Designer appearances included Jerry Lorenzo of FEAR OF GOD, Heron Preston, Jeremy Scott of Moschino, Greg Lauren, Piotrek Panszczyk and Beckett Fogg of Area, John Elliott, Chris Gibbs of Union Los Angeles, Eli Azran of RtA, Jon Buscemi of Buscemi, Ali Fatourechi of Adaptation, Francesco Ragazzi of Palm Angels, Rami Mona of Renzo Cardoni, Guillermo Andrade of 424, and Rhuigi Villaseñor of Rhude.
The action continued on Sunday with thought-provoking panel discussions covering the deeper meaning of luxury, L.A.’s collaborative creative community, and a conversation about how fashion is empowering women.
