Americana Prints Meet Grungy Denim For R13’s Best Collection Yet

The cult brand continues to reinvent itself with nostalgic-yet-modern collections destined to be wardrobe staples.

R13 has an ability to turn out pieces that feel at once lived in and familiar yet utterly nuanced and fresh. The moment we saw SS18’s kaleidoscopic vision of elevated grunge march down the runway to a mash-up of Nirvana and Bowie, we knew the brand’s designer Chris Leba had produced our favorite collection to date.

While the denim-focused line always tends to pay homage to American movements like grunge and punk, this season these references felt more colorful and complex than ever before. Leba was inspired by Hutterite people of the upper Great Plains, who  forego an austere palette favoring vibrant prints and colors. Leba infused the collection’s signature distressed denim and heavy boots with slips, oversized shorts, and apron dresses in a playful mix of plaids and florals. Scroll on to discover some of the fun collection’s must-haves.
