Proenza Schouler and Barneys have gone hand in hand since 2002 when they launched their first-ever collection straight out of Parsons. One of our favorite aspects of the ever-evolving relationship with the brand’s designers, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, is the custom capsules that they create exclusively for Barneys. This season, they custom-developed an abstract, lace-inspired print with a signature contrasting hem, and then allowed the collection to build from there. The resulting pieces are quintessentially Proenza: playful, feminine, and a little offbeat.
“I’m obsessed with this new print,” gushes Barneys Fashion Director Marina Larroudé. “I’m drawn to it because it feels both urban and tropical at the same time. I’ll start wearing the easy dress shapes with boots and fall layers now, until I can pack them for my warm-climate winter getaways.” It’s true—there’s something about the print and the collection as a whole that easily walks the line between laidback and dressy, feminine and edgy. Best of all, it works just as this during fall as it will on a warm vacation over the holidays.
The ease of the collection also comes from the silhouettes, which add to the versatility of styling options. From the simple A-line and maxi dresses to the peplum top and long-sleeved T-shirt, the lines are clean and minimal, allowing the graphic prints to stand out. So whether you’re styling with leather boots and knits or sandals and sunhats, you’re sure to shine.
