One reason we adore fashion is that it gives everyone the opportunity to look ahead to the future. As our interest is piqued viewing the newest collections, we can’t help but think about which key pieces will play a starring role in our wardrobes next season. The good news for original style seekers: Barneys New York has a fresh set of new arrivals to fall in love with right now. From The Row to Alexander Wang—we asked our women’s team to share their favorite get-’em-while-they’re-hot pieces.

Sarah Blair, SVP DMM Women’s Accessories and ShoesDries Van Noten

Dries Van Noten is a storyteller. His imagination draws from such a broad spectrum of influences, including his Flemish roots, folklore, punk, and beloved David Bowie. I love the fluidity and movement in his work and how he creates a montage of prints. This embroidered shirtdress is one of my favorites from this season.”

Meisha Brown, Senior Buyer, Designer Handbags & Leather GoodsIsabel Marant Étoile

Isabel Marant Étoile is one of my favorite collections because it has a feminine-bohemian style, but with a slight edge. The Viole Naoko dress has just the right amount of “girly” frill for me and when paired with the Kady leather jacket, it toughens up the overall look.”

Tomoko Oguro, Senior Fashion DirectorRegulation Yohji Yamamoto

“My fondness for outerwear is well known in the office, and this Yohji parka is no exception. I’d wear the piece with a pair of trousers or jeans and I’d pop the look with a sneaker or loafer in a fun, happy color. I gravitate towards collections that focus on functional design in a beautiful way. Yohji Yamamoto’s Regulation collection embraces utilitarian design, and I’m drawn to the styles which can complement the lifestyle of someone on the go.”

Hannah Bibb, Assistant Fashion DirectorAlexander Wang

“There’s always a downtown attitude to Alexander Wang’s collections and this season, Wang’s tough girl was under the influence of femininity. Playful shapes, like this peplum top, have a moody tone with added grommet details found throughout the collection. For those crisp winter days, I would layer a fitted turtleneck under this top and for a casual spring stroll, I would pair it with a looser fit denim option, like Wang’s distressed boyfriend jean.”

Jennifer Sunwoo, EVP, GMM Women’sThe Row

“I tend to gravitate towards clean, tailored design, and The Row’s minimalist aesthetic covers ground when I’m looking to layer new pieces into my wardrobe. My favorite piece of the season is The Row’s Naleko coat.  Chicly grey, the lightweight yet cozy coat carries you from one season into another. The double-face wool also drapes beautifully over The Row’s cashmere sweaters, which I’ve come to favor and replenish every season, as well as their gorgeous silk blouses.”

Leah Kim, SVP DMM Women’s RTWMM6 Maison Margiela

“This printed crepe top from MM6 Maison Margiela is perfect for when the warmer weather arrives. I love the mix in scale of the floral print and sheer panels. I’d pair it with a skirt or jeans.”

Lauren Painter, Buyer, Women’s AccessoriesSaint Laurent

“No matter the season or the occasion, it’s a safe bet you’ll find me in a well-worn leather jacket thrown over a feminine dress. After years of making the rounds through rock shows, black tie parties, and everything in between, my current moto jacket is in need of an upgrade. This distressed version from Saint Laurent would definitely do the trick!”

Melissa Helwig, Buyer, Women’s RTW Developing DesignerIsabel Marant

“I am a huge Isabel fan and she is my go-to designer for building my wardrobe each season. I am in love this yellow pastel tunic dress because it is perfect to wear now with a pair of tights, and later without, once we enter warm weather. My personal aesthetic is a little bit of urban/rock & roll some days and a little bit of bohemian/romantic others, making Isabel Marant the perfect style go-to collection.”
