Who’s our latest blog crush, you ask? Easy—Sabrina of The Beauty Look Book. Ever since refreshing our beauty floors in New York and Beverly Hills, we’re more makeup and skincare-obsessed than ever.

Sabrina’s site has been around for years (since 2009 to be exact) and is only getting better with each passing post. Her product reviews are thorough, the photography is fantastic and we can never get enough of her Loving Right Now roundups.

We caught up with Sabrina to find out about how the blog got started and what’s in her beauty arsenal.

What inspired you to start the blog?
I started writing The Beauty Look Book in 2009 while completing my master’s degree. I had just discovered some amazing beauty and fashion blogs and was learning about social media marketing in various entrepreneurship and business development classes. I was inspired to start blogging after writing a guest article for Karen from Makeup and Beauty Blog. I had so much fun working with her, and she inspired me to start my own blog.

What are your winter skincare secret weapons?
This winter I’ve been loving By Terry’s Baume de Rose. It took me years to cave and try it. It lives up to all the hype; I will be repurchasing over and over again. Koh Gen Do’s Macro Vintage line has worked wonders on my skin. The products are moisturizing and soothing. My top two picks are the Vintage Essence Mask, which makes your face feel like baby skin, and the Royal Massage Milk, which I use as a daily moisturizer.

carnal-flowerWhat is your go-to scent this season?
For fragrance, my go-to is Frédéric Malle’s Carnal Flower. It’s a year-round classic. It’s the perfect tuberose scent and wears well for any occasion. My go-to home scent is Diptyque Baies. It’s my most frequently burned candle. It’s both soothing and refreshing. I love to reuse the jars when they’re finished burning. I have the room spray as well, although I prefer the candles.

What is your signature lipstick shade?
hourglass-stilo I’m all about light and glossy nude lips, but not too nude. Right now my favorite is Hourglass Femme Nude Lip Stylo #5—it’s the perfect full coverage shimmering nude peach that doesn’t wash out the complexion. I’m also wearing YSL Volupte Sheer Candy in Lush Coconut which gives a sheer wash of shine.

If you could lunch with any Barneys beauty creator, who would it be?
I would love to have lunch with François Nars. I think he is so amazing and I’ve been a long time fan of his line. I would have a long list of questions. My top three would be: 1) if he would sign my NARS beauty books, 2) if he would consider bringing back Antibes Multiple and 3) if he would promise to never discontinue St. Barts multiple, which is my favorite cream highlighter.

If you were accidentally “locked” in Barneys overnight, what would we find you wearing in the morning?
This would be a dream come true, and I would never want to leave! I would try on every pair of Louboutins and all the Balenciaga and Helmut Lang leather jackets. In the morning you would probably see me wearing a classic black Givenchy Antigona tote on my arm with Christian Louboutin ankle boots and a flowy jersey top by Helmut Lang and any pair of dark ankle jeans.

For beauty, I would be wearing Frédéric Malle’s Carnal Flower hair mist, Kevyn Aucoin’s new Celestial Liquid in Candlelight, Serge Lutens’ nude lip palette. I’d also be testing NARS 413 Bleeker Multiple and Serge Lutens’ eye palette to see if they lived up to the hype.

beauty-lookbook-gridWhat is your first beauty memory?
My earliest beauty memories are related to my hair. I was born with a full head of hair, and as far as I can remember it has always been thick and long. My earliest beauty memories were with my mother—she was always helping me with my hair when I was little. She would help me every morning to brush out the tangles so I wouldn’t pull it out. I remember asking her to do French braids on a weekly basis. She always made me and my sister feel pretty with her hair styling.

What is the best beauty advice you have ever received?
Drink more water. I’ve received this from so many people and am constantly reminded on a daily basis. Staying hydrated really makes all the difference.
