New York City is our endless source of inspiration. Style, culture, art—this city’s got it all, and so much more. So when it came to our legendary Madison Avenue windows, why look anywhere else but our home?
Luckily, we’re not the only ones obsessed with New York. In addition to Shawn ‘JAY Z’ Carter—whose limited edition holiday collection is now available!—we’ve joined forces with French visual artist Joanie Lemercier to create an unprecedented series of interactive, immersive window installations that integrate everything from light shows to 3D mapping to sleigh rides with Santa and Mrs. Claus themselves (with a little help from the performers of the Upright Citizens Brigade).
The first window houses a faceted structured that takes up nearly the whole space of the window. Representing a broken-away piece of the bedrock of New York City, the structure is covered thousands of mirrors, resulting in an ever-changing light show of infinite reflections and patterns. Watch it on Instagram.

With the help of an attached structure built out onto the Madison Avenue sidewalk, the second window becomes a darkened theater, which the public can enter and exit via doors on either side. The show, which will be repeated constantly throughout the day, shows a floating version of New York City created by 3D mapping and light projections. Watch it on Instagram.

Using constantly moving patterns of LED lights, the third window represents the constant movement in New York City. Those patterns are interpreted in light for infinite movements. Watch it on Instagram.

BNY NYC SLEIGH RIDE
The fourth window is an interactive, improvisational experience that hearkens back to the holiday tradition of children visiting Santa Claus. Santa and Mrs. Claus—played by performers from the Upright Citizens brigade and outfitted in costumes by Zaldy—will inhabit the window and invite children and their parents to step inside the window for a virtual sleigh ride, which will take a ride over the city of New York with the help of an immersive video. Watch it on Instagram.

As anyone who’s ever seen the New York skyline can attest, lights are a crucial part of the experience—which is why we’re thrilled to be partnering with Christie Digital Systems USA, Inc, on these innovative and pioneering displays, which utilize Christie® MicroTiles®, HD flat panels and projectors.
We’d say we’re giving that skyline a run for its money…
