For the SS19 season, Maison Margiela has presented the house’s first Artisanal menswear collection. The show, which took place last June, represented a foray into haute couture and the evolution of male dress codes seen today. The pieces are exclusively bespoke, repurposing an array of textiles including original kimonos, vinyl, silks, and chiffon. For this collection, Creative Director John Galliano also explored the bias-cut technique for a unique take on men’s tailoring.
Galliano said, “The reason and importance to have this laboratory of ideas known as the Artisanal has never been more relevant than today. Because where are we going?” In honor of the Maison Margiela Artisanal collection, a special installation is on display at our Madison Avenue store on men’s main and the fifth floor now through April 10.
