It’s not every day that two of the biggest names in beauty and fashion come together to create a collection—but when they do, you can bet it will be a mega success. In the case of L’Oréal Paris and Isabel Marant, combining their celebrated sense of French style was a match that seemed almost inevitable. The L’Oréal Paris x Isabel Marant collection pairs the superior quality of the iconic beauty brand with the casual chicness for which the French designer is known. Both brands have a rich legacy of creating strong looks for liberated women, and a reputation for democratizing style. “I share a vision of femininity with L’Oréal,” says Marant. “I like to give women the confidence to express themselves freely.”

The products include lipstick, multipurpose gloss, eye shadow, mascara, and more. “The look is carefree nonchalance—elegant without trying too hard,” says Marant. Using the technical skills of L’Oréal’s labs, the designer worked to create colors and textures that could transition seamlessly from one situation to the next. L’Oréal’s iconic Colour Riche matte lipstick—the brand’s top-selling lipstick in the world—is the base for the line’s range of seven timeless, suit-all shades that include two nudes, two plums, and three reds designed to work for every woman’s complexions. “I love red lipstick,” says Marant. “In this collection, we have several shades for bold lips that brighten a gray day in Paris!” The colors feature a sophisticated matte finish.


The packaging is punctuated with empowering words such as amaze, smile, wanted, and shine, part of the label’s mission to instill women with confidence. Aiming to streamline a woman’s routine, L’Oréal Paris x Isabel Marant emphasizes multitasking styles with easy application. “I wanted to create products that are practical and can be applied on the go,” says Marant. “Because who goes back home to change after a long day at work before going out again? I wanted multipurpose products that are small enough to take with you anywhere, any time.”


The seasonal launch, dubbed the “Most Wanted” capsule, draws inspiration from Marant’s cowboy-inspired ready-to-wear collection for Fall 2018. The designer finds synergy between the two lines. “I love the myth of the Wild West,” she explains. “That borderless way of life—eyeing new horizons and seeing the endless possibilities of adventure—it is a continuous inspiration for me.”
