Few brands stand out in denim history the way Jordache does. Famous for its advertising campaign featuring a topless horseback rider on the beach, the label single-handedly changed the jeans landscape in the late ’70s and ’80s with its provocative styles and suggestion that Jordache was more than a clothing line—it was a lifestyle.

Today, 40 years after its inception, the company is breathing new life into its iconic looks with exclusive styles launching at Barneys New York and select specialty stores around the world. Designed by denim-industry veteran Benjamin Talley-Smith, the collection combines popular looks from the original collection with new fabrics and fits. “My vision for creating this new interpretation is all about seeing the brand’s rich heritage and aesthetic through a modern lens,” says Talley-Smith. “We’re leaning on relevant-again silhouettes, like the high rise, straight leg, and oversized jacket, done in modern fabrics and washes.”

Without a doubt, jeans are having a retro-chic moment, making it the ideal opportunity for Jordache to reclaim its roost as a leader in the designer-denim category. Made in Los Angeles, Jordache jeans are crafted using cutting-edge technology, such as bonding metallic 3M to denim to achieve the ultimate body-contouring silhouette. The line also includes jackets, T-shirts, hoodies, and more.

While speaking to the new generation, Jordache remains a cult classic, worn by artists, celebrities, and the fashion elite. The brand’s cheeky “You got the look I want to know better” tagline remains one of the most-referenced advertising campaigns, and its designs, though much copied, remain a prime example of European styling paired with an American fit. For its new campaign, legendary fashion editor Carine Roitfeld styled the looks, with model Cami Morrone in the starring role.

Fans of the label will recognize the jeans’ signature high-rise skinny fit and slightly cropped, straight silhouettes, but other styles, such as the logo-jacquard overcoat and cropped hoodie, will be a fresh surprise. Happy shopping!
