Barneys New York has a lot in its history to be proud of (if we do say so ourselves), but one thing we’re still patting ourselves on the back for was spotting Proenza Schouler‘s Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez back when they were still students at Parsons The New School for Design. After we bought the duo’s impressive senior thesis collection, they went on to stage their first major runway show for Fall 2003.

Now, 10 years later, we’re equally enthralled by the designers. And to celebrate this special anniversary, Barneys New York is proud to be reissuing that Fall 2003 collection—just in time for Fall 2013. (Time flies when you’re having fun, doesn’t it?) Aptly named First Collection, it includes plenty of Proenza’s now-signatures, from bustier tops to featherweight tees to plenty of obsession-worthy leather pieces.

We sat down with the guys to find out all about those early days. Check back tomorrow for more exclusive content from Jack and Lazaro—and to shop a little bit of Proenza history in First Collection.
