You might think of winter as pie season. Or boot season. Or even Netflix season. But we think of it as spa season. As temperatures begin to slip into the 30s, there’s all the more reason to stay inside, nourishing your body (also known as carb-loading) and nourishing your skin (playing spa) in anticipation of a spring awakening.

Our new favorite brand for such an occasion is Rituals. The idea behind it, according to Dutch founder Raymond Cloosterman, is to “enjoy the small things in life, to take a step back and stand still for a minute” (as told the Financial Times). Now doesn’t that sound nice?

Rituals came about when Cloosterman, a busy executive, was given a two-month sabbatical. He went on a “journey of discovery” across Europe and the United States to look for inspiring places and people. The nugget of insight gleaned from his travels? People are increasingly over-scheduled and overworked, making each free moment precious and worth savoring. In sum, if you’re going to be washing your hands, you might as well be enjoying it. Taking a bath? Why not add bubbles?  Friday night in? How about lighting a candle?

Each collection of Rituals bath and body products is named for and inspired by a different Eastern cultural tradition, and all are meant to relax and delight.
