This season, Balenciaga serves up mineral-inspired texture and prints, as well as sharp silhouettes that take on a surreal sensibility. For the Barneys lookbook, we chose to take the collection somewhere equally stately, with both classic and modern appeal: the Weylin B. Seymour’s building is on Broadway and Driggs in the heart of Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
Formerly the Williamsburgh Savings Bank, which opened in 1875, the architectural landmark has been masterfully restored and reopened last year as an elegant event space. The building’s new incarnation is named for legendary 19th century neighborhood figure Weylin B. Seymour, a well-loved socialite and party host. The new namesake conveniently shares the same initials as the former bank, and the WSB monogram appears throughout.
