There are few people more instantly recognizable than a certain bespectacled, stripe-clad traveler who always manages to get himself lost in a series of beloved children’s books. But Waldo just may have met his match in a sunglass-wearing, high-collared French gentleman who always manages to wow with his edgy designs—the iconic Karl Lagerfeld. And when these two worlds collide, the result could only be WHERE’S KARL?: A Fashion Forward Parody.

This grown-up picture book follows a fictional fashion blogger who chases the Kaiser through fifteen of fashion’s most fabulous cities, bent on interviewing him for her site. And luckily, we get to tag along, crossing paths with a variety of tastemakers along the way, including the likes of Anna Wintour and Barneys’ own Mark Lee, Daniella Vitale, Tomoko Ogura, and Jennifer Sunwoo.

To toast the book, we recently hosted authors Stacey Caldwell, Ajiri A. Aki, and Michelle Baron for a cocktail reception and book signing at our Madison Avenue Flagship, where Karl was certainly present, in likeness if not in person. Scroll on for a look at the the evening’s antics, but fear not if you weren’t able to attend. Karl’s still hiding out at our stores on Madison Avenue, in Beverly Hills, and in Chicago—and we’re counting on you to find him! Visit one of these locations, snap a selfie with one of our Karl kut-outs or a kopy of the book, and post it tagging @BarneysNYOfficial and using the hashtag #bnywhereskarl, and you’ll be entered for the chance to win an autographed copy of the collectible new book. Now get out there and show us the answer to that burning question: WHERE’S KARL?
