“I rebelled, always,” says Penelope Tree in a film shot by Mario Sorrenti to commemorate Tree Time, the Barneys New York spring campaign. Tree certainly caused a stir in 1966 when she appeared at Truman Capote‘s legendary Black and White ball wearing an equally audacious and avant-garde ensemble. She reminisces about that night below, along with her work beside artistic luminaries like Diana Vreeland and Diane Arbus.
Recognized as both a style icon and an activist, Tree is the ultimate embodiment of beauty inside and out.
