To showcase his SS17 collection, Victor Alfaro wanted to think outside the box. “I’m so fascinated by the phenomenon of street style and how real it is,” he tells The Window. “I didn’t want to create a static lookbook, so I thought about how to authentically tell my story this season.” He decided to unleash his models and a photographer into the crowds outside the shows during Paris Fashion Week, resulting in an editorial that organically came to life with a street style aesthetic.
Not only did the concept result in a gorgeous lookbook, but the day after the shoot, shots of the women wearing Victor Alfaro’s collection were all over the street style blogs. The collection is heavy on dresses that are special occasion-appropriate but not limiting and lend themselves to clever styling, like layering over tees. “In the end, clothes are meant to be a fantasy, but they must be grounded in reality. This was my way of grounding them.”
