Two Toasts To A Decade of Alber Elbaz At Lanvin

When it comes to Alber Elbaz, our love knows no bounds. That’s why we decided to host not just one, but two celebrations in honor of the designer’s 10th anniversary at Lanvin.

On Wednesday, our very own Mark Lee kicked off the festivities with an intimate dinner at his home for the likes of Sally Singer, Cathy Horyn, Mario Sorrenti and Mary Frey, to name just a few of the fashionable guests. It was a jovial evening filled with delicious food (burrata and arugla salad and mini hamburgers with shoestring fries were on the menu) and a few of Alber’s nearest and dearest. And paying homage to Alber’s signature neckwear, all the waiters—and even the cake itself—donned red bow ties. (Vogue.com is already abuzz with the post-party wrap-up).

The celebration continued yesterday, when Uma Thurman hosted a presentation of the Lanvin Autumn/Winter 2012 collection at Barneys New York. Before the show, Alber was feeling nostalgic, reminiscing about his early days as a young designer. He described arriving in New York with just $800 in his pocket and luggage that “was definitely not Louis Vuitton,” as he put it.

The designer then showcased a series of looks that were unfailingly (and unsurprisingly) fabulous. “Women today are strong and powerful, and that’s a deadly combination,” declared Alber. “That’s the woman I’m dressing.” Lucas OssendrijverThierry Andretta, Giambattista Valli and our very own Daniella VitaleCharlotte Blechman and Dennis Freedman were among the glamorous guests who took their seats to view the presentation.

As a bonus, ten percent of the proceeds from Lanvin sales during yesterday’s event were donated to Room to Grow, a non-profit organization that supports babies born into poverty.
