I Woke Up Like This: ATM’s Tony Melillo Shares His A.M. Routine

Tony Melillo’s new collection of ATM loungewear is made up of the kind of pieces you’ll want to bookend your day with. Spend the morning, for example, in a supremely soft ATM robe (perhaps thrown over a scoopneck tank and lightweight sweats) for that I-woke-up-on-the-right-side-of-the-bed feeling.

Just follow the lead of Mr. Melillo himself, who seems to have his A.M. routine down pat. We asked Tony to divulge the details of those early hours, and he was kind enough to share the play-by-play below.

6:55 A.M.

Wake up call. Give my iPhone a quick scan to see what’s happening on Instagram. Tear myself out of bed—my Society sheets are just too comfortable—and throw on an inside-out robe.

Can’t start the day without hot coffee with a splash of whole milk. We brew ours in a Chemex. Worth the wait. Look over the papers—WWD and the Post.

Jordan, my 14-year-old mutt, and I go for a good walk—the Meatpacking District if we’re in New York or on the beach if we’re in Miami. My cotton knit lounge pants are perfect for the occasion. (I like to pair them with Margiela lowtops.)

Back home to clean up and get ready for the day.  I’ve been loyal to Fresh’s Sugar soap and deodorant for years. Marvis toothpaste is the best. Plus, how great is the packaging? Kiehl’s Facial Fuel is my go-to cleanser. For haircare, I’m all about Rahua. It’s plant-derived and smells unbelievably fresh.

ATM-4

8:30 A.M.

Slip on a white cotton ATM tee. They are the backbone of my wardrobe. There must be at least two dozen in my closet.

ATM-5

9:00 A.M.

Knock back a Blue Print juice, the first of many I will drink today. I’m partial to the kale/apple/ginger kind, or beet/apple/carrot if I need something a little sweeter.

ATM-6

9:15 A.M.

Before heading out the door, I reach for some accessories: Moscot sunglasses, a watch, wallet, my leather Bottega lanyard and a Smythson notebook.
