In partnership with Highsnobiety, The Drop is coming to the West Coast for an incredible immersive experience on Saturday, June 2, and Sunday, June 3. In continuation of our successful event last October in NYC, thedropLA@barneys will take place in our Beverly Hills flagship. The exciting weekend is set to include experiential installations, more than 20 exclusive capsule collections, 90-plus brands, designer appearances, and a surprise musical performance.
Similar to last fall, exclusive designer products will launch at the in-store event on June 2, 2018, and on barneys.com. For the first time, however, there will also be 26 exclusive products only available online. The thedropLA@barneys releases include capsules by Prada, Fendi, Heron Preston, Versace, Palm Angels, Givenchy, Balmain, FILA, Fear of God, Rick Owens, A-Cold-Wall*, Greg Lauren, Birkenstock, John Elliott, Wu Wear, Ksubi, Area, Takahiromiyashita The Soloist, and many more. Other featured brands are Longchamp, Maison Margiela, Moschino, Alberta Ferretti, Manolo Blahnik, Burberry, Miu Miu, Manning Cartell, Birkenstock, Carbon and Hyde, Missoni, Oliver Peoples, Adaptation, Advisory Board Crystals, Emrata x Spinelli Kilcollin, Barton Perreira, and Onia x WeWoreWhat.
We spoke to Associate Fashion Director Jackie Kim about what to expect in Los Angeles and which collections she’s most excited about. “For this event, so many amazing designers created exclusives for us, including Prada. The women’s capsule is sporty and fun with a few unexpected accessories (like a yoga mat), to please any luxury fanatic,” she says. “We also worked with Manolo Blahnik to create three exclusive gingham styles, and I can’t wait to see our clients try them on and take them home!”
Speaking of shoes, Barneys New York also partnered with Jordyn Woods and Justine Skye to create limited-edition styles launching at thedropLA@barneys. Both women will be in attendance, as will many designers including Jerry Lorenzo of Fear of God, Heron Preston, Jeremy Scott of Moschino, and Greg Lauren, to name a few. Throughout the day on June 2, guests can enjoy live DJ sets from Heron Preston, SIMIHAZE, Siobhan Bell, and Mathematics, and L.A. food favorites will be served.
Our team has also created one-of-a-kind, photo-worthy installations that harness the creativity of the Los Angeles community. Attendees can explore the Prada Pachinko Parlor, a Fear of God installation, a Heron Preston NASA-inspired area, a “Sliced by Fila” pizzeria, the Birkenstock Park serving Moon Juice refreshments, and a roller rink featuring Gucci complete with roller performances and skate rentals. Exclusive fine-jewelry pieces will be housed in a live Butterfly Bar near Freds, and on Saturday guests can also enjoy product customizations, piercings, manicures, and beauty and skin-care treatments. Plus, there will be a raffle featuring Balenciaga with 100% of the proceeds benefiting Everytown for Gun Safety.
The experiential activations will continue in Beverly Hills on Sunday, June 3, as will thought-provoking panel discussions hosted by Highsnobiety and Barneys New York. Mark your calendars, as this immersive weekend filled with fashion and entertainment isn’t one to miss!
