The Bond is Barneys’ newly launched, exclusive engagement and union band assortment—all designed with the unique taste of the customer in mind. Available online and at our Madison Avenue store, the special edit offers artisanal styles meant to signify lifelong commitment. Whether the discerning bride or groom opts for a traditional or modern style, The Bond has something spectacular to fit every taste.
Select brands include Tate Union, Stephanie Windsor Antiques, McTeigue & McClelland, Sharon Khazzam, Spinelli Kilcollin, Monique Péan, Munnu, Eli Halili, and Eva Fehren. These jewelers have partnered with Barneys to create exclusive rings, most of which are customizable based on price point and carat weight. Couples can visit our Fine Jewelry Mezzanine to work directly with the designers to customize their styles. This service is also offered to those who register with The Registry.
The Bond exclusives play off of each jeweler’s aesthetic while also invoking 2018 engagement ring trends. “We are seeing couples move towards uniqueness and artisanal craftsmanship when selecting a style,” says Gurki Basra, Senior Jewelry Buyer. Top trends include multiple bands, colorful stones, east-west styles, portrait cuts, mix-and-match metals, and antique- or vintage-inspired rings. “The designers are true world-class artisans who pride themselves on small-quantity production. Each ring is truly special and high quality.”
The Tate Union collection is also available at our Beverly Hills and Chelsea stores. Jeweler Steven Messler of Tate utilizes colorful stones like yellow diamonds, rubies, emeralds, and sapphires, and his latest rings feature two stones together in varied shapes and sizes. “A three-stone or halo setting is very classic, so I wanted to create alternative engagement ring styles,” he explains. The Tate Union collection also offers modern bands for endless stacking options. Pro tip: “It looks cool to mix and match platinum and gold settings or to stack bands with different shapes together.”
Repurposing diamonds from earlier decades also makes for a thoughtful proposal. For the bride or groom interested in pieces with history, Stephanie Windsor Antiques created many exclusives for The Bond. The designer says, “Antique diamonds have personality. All were cut by hand—that passion makes my rings special and individually different.”
The men’s team wanted to make sure their curation of union bands appealed to a multitude of lifestyles. “We can’t truly be Barneys unless we offer something to everyone,” says Mens EVP/GMM Tom Kalenderian. “In our Barneys New York Collection, there’s a classic yellow gold band with a tasteful milgrain edge detail for the die-hard traditionalist. For the sophisticated man with understated taste, there’s a simple domed platinum band.” The selection also caters to trendsetters with standout Spinelli Kilcollin bands, and more subtle styles with matte finishing by French jeweler Le Gramme.
“Overall, it’s about individuality and choosing a ring that speaks to you,” says Basra. To discover The Bond in person, visit our Madison Avenue flagship, or click through to shop the exclusive collection online.
