If you happen to stroll by the Barneys New York windows on Madison Avenue, you might find yourself doing a double take. Not only do these windows spotlight eye-catching accessories from Zagliani, Mark Cross, YSL, Prada, Proenza Schouler and Maiyet, they have a rather intriguing backdrop to boot. One walk through and you might find yourself asking questions like, ‘what do these machines have to do with shoes and handbags?’ Well, a lot.
Let us tell you why: The inspiration behind the design began by looking at how simple machines with basic kinetic movements can create assemblages. Taking this idea one step further, the repetition of these machines were then mirrored in the spring 2012 accessories.
