Examine a Suzannah Wainhouse ring—or necklace or bracelet for that matter—and you might get the impression it had a past life. Well, you’d be on the right trail. Wainhouse puts recycled silver and gold to new uses in her expressive jewelry collection.

According to the designer, who is formally trained as a fine artist, the recycled metals lend themselves to “endless transformation.” And Wainhouse’s goal is not to polish away their mottled histories, but rather to allow each piece to “come to life” through a process akin to sculpture.

“I love the strength behind jewelry; there is ancient power and mystical qualities that only jewelry can convey,” Wainhouse tells us, though the collection manages to speak for itself.
