SIMON DOONAN Recounts His Nonchalant Nuptials for THE NEW YORK TIMES

This past Sunday, New York City clerk offices opened their doors to issue hundreds of marriage licenses to same-sex couples for the first time in the state’s history.

In honor of this monumental moment, Barneys Creative Ambassador at Large Simon Doonan recounted his 2008 laid-back ceremony to longtime partner Jonathan Adler for The New York Times.

With no glitter, sequins or feather boas in sight, style savant Doonan (clad in his signature begonia button-up) and design doyen Adler’s nuptials were not the over-the-top, lavish affair many of their family and friends expected. Instead, they achieved “a stratospherically high level of Zen contentment” during their “effortlessly delightful and romantic” wedding day.
