For Sea of Shoes’ Jane Aldridge, the heels don’t just make the outfit, they dictate it. Aldridge spends her days curating ensembles based around the beyond enviable shoe collection that she’s famous for. “I must have around 150 pairs,” said Aldridge. “It’s totally out of control. I don’t have a ton of space in my apartment, so they are stashed in the bathroom, or under the bed. Sometimes, they migrate into the kitchen.”
A teensy bit of a spacial challenge has certainly been worth Aldridge’s success. The loyal Texan unleashed her impeccable taste (and electric red locks) unto the world in the early days of the fashion blogosphere—way back in 2007—and we’ve been smitten ever since. Her contagious footwear infatuation is only topped by her photogenic visage and supreme knack for mixing edgy vintage-inspired styles with a touch of western charm.
We asked Aldridge to curate three situationally apropos looks based around her favorite fall footwear. Next time you’re stuck wondering what to wear, take a cue from Aldridge, and work from the ground up.
“These ankle boots are my big crush of the season. A cheeky leopard pencil skirt paired with a tough-girl leather jacket is perfect modern cocktail attire. My favorite beauty look for evening is a smudgy smoky eye with mussy hair and orange nails. Cocktail appropriate but totally unfussy.”

“A business meeting demands a classic pump. This Louboutin version is the most perfect one I’ve ever seen! A leather pencil skirt is all business but with a bit of an edge. A cozy sweater and a chambray shirt are both classic and soft. And stud earrings are timeless, flattering, and office appropriate.”

“The lace-up detail on these shoes is so sexy. I love them paired with a striped boyfriend shirt, and I always love denim for a date night. My style is pretty casual and laid back—I like drinks on a breezy patio! Dainty jewelry paired with a come-hither scent is the perfect finishing touch.”
