In one of the season’s most anticipated moments, Raf Simons revealed his vision for Calvin Klein this morning in a runway show that presented both Men’s and Women’s Fall ’17 collections in a 55-look spectacular. With an emphasis on exquisite cross-gender tailoring, the overall feel had a strong nod to the iconic brand’s minimalistic roots, but an attention to detail and construction that felt totally fresh. Simons, along with his long-time right hand Pieter Mulier, may have relocated from Europe to lead the fashion house, but they embraced their newly adopted home country with plenty of nods to Americana via quilting, a spin on cowboy boots, and even an American flag skirt.
“With Raf Simons at Calvin Klein, it marks a new beginning for American fashion,” commented Barneys Fashion Director Marina Larroudé just following the exciting show. “I had high expectations for the show, and I was blown away by the collection! Raf combined his couture experience with American sportswears to perfection.”
