Make A 2012 Style Resolution. Here are Ours.

It’s a new year. A fresh start. Who cares if you wore Crocs seven days a week in 2011? You’ve got a clean slate now, so take advantage of it and make a style resolution or two. For some creative inspiration, we asked the Barneys team to share their hopeful to-do’s for 2012.

AMANDA BROOKS
Women’s Fashion Director

“Every year, I have the same resolution. For the month of January, I don’t eat sugar or drink alcohol, and I stay home in the evenings as much as possible. My husband and I call it our hibernation month. We both love it—it allows us to catch up on reading and T.V. shows and to start the year off feeling healthy and balanced. In terms of style, I am always evolving and changing. This coming year, I’d like to focus on wearing very refined and beautifully made classic pieces from The Row, Alaia and Céline.”

“Breaking news: a big style resolution. I have worn choccie brown for years. Now that my hair is going (very) grey, I am switching to navy. Alert the media!”

MARK LEE
Chief Executive Officer

“I am resolved when I like something to buy it in a minimum of two colors. I have started buying the same shoe in multiple colors (black and/or brown, plus another color) and find that is so convenient. Really, if you like the shape and look and fit of something, it’s always good to have more than one…”

CHARLOTTE BLECHMAN
Senior Vice President, Marketing and Communications

“My New Year’s style resolution is to figure out a way to incorporate flat shoes in my day-to-day life. I’ve got to give my stilettos and my feet some rest!”

TOM KALENDERIAN
General Merchandise Manager, Executive Vice President

“My 2012 resolution is to relax my dress code, which began with losing the tie on New Year’s Eve. This year, on my routine R & R sojourn to Miami, I took in more than the Lapidus architecture and the spas. I made a pit stop at the Barneys CO-OP on Collins & 9th to pick up a CO-OP collection shawl collar tux jacket. To live out my resolution, I skipped the formal accessories and went with the J Brand Kane raw denim jeans and a CO-OP white shirt.”
