Shoe-ins: Fall Footwear Essentials from The Barneys Team

With this week’s opening of the new shoe floor at the New York flagship, can you blame us for having a case of footwear tunnel vision? Read on to find out which shoes the Barneys team is eyeing for fall.

Maybe it’s the Olympics or Queen’s Diamond Jubilee—either way I am having a seriously old-school British moment and reverting to Church’s shoes. This fall I will be rocking the sturdy, cool Britannia wing-tip (call 212-826-8900 to order). Check out this great video for extra inspiration.

My favorite shoes are too numerous to mention, but one of the two must-haves is the Manolo Blahnik Caromule (above). Ashley and Mary-Kate styled their fall and spring shows with Blahnik mules and it looked so modern. I love the idea of a super skinny jean with a mule in bronze or black.

My big shoe purchase of the season will be from our exclusive launch with Narcisco Rodriguez. His mid-calf ostrich pleated boot is so chic. He has always made great shoes but finally, we get to actually buy them.

John Lobb has become my go-to brand and I am so happy to have recently welcomed them at Barneys. They have even done an XO Exclusively Ours style for us. I will be hoping to wear them to our official Madison Avenue shoe floor opening party on September 7th.

I have so many favorites for the season that it’s hard to narrow them down! If I had to select just a few, I would pick: 1) Gianvito Rossi winged pump (in black and grey suede): I am in love with this shoe. It will look great with dresses, pants, leather leggings, everything! 2) Givenchy’s over-the-knee leather boot in brown (call 212-826-8900 to order): I cannot wait for this boot to come in store. I am obsessed—I know it will become my staple for fall. I just may need it in black as well. 3) Narciso Rodriguez colorblock mid-calf boot (above): Color blocking has never been more chic—blue and black is my favorite combination. A splash of winter white creates a boot beyond my expectations! 4) Sergio Rossi laser cut sandal in antique rose: the ideal sandal for an unexpected indian summer night. 5) Barneys New York Co-Op back lace boot in black: It’s the perfect staple to run around the city on the weekends with my kids!

I am very excited about the new shoe floor because there is so much variety and shoes for every occasion. A few of my favorites are the  Battistoni cap toe double monk shoe in medium brown (which I plan to wear for work), the Crockett & Jones Cottesmore belted ankle boot (above) and the John Lobb Philip II cap toe shoe.

I’m excited for all the sneakers coming in this fall. I love this hand-splatter-painted design from Maison Martin Margiela (call 212-826-8900 to order). It’s perfect for doing laps around our new expansive shoe floor .

Ever since we met the cobblers Gaziano & Girling, I have been longing for a pair of their shoes. I get goosebumps when I see the heritage of British Goodyear shoes like these, which capture the elegance of the Duke of Windsor (like the eponymous Windsor style above) and the essence of vintage custom Brogues. I am so proud we will be able to present this collection in our beautiful new floor of shoes.
