Every season like clockwork we find ourselves asking the Barneys team, “What should we wear?” But we recently turned to them with a new question, “What should we read?” The results showed that this is one book club we definitely want to get in on.
Women’s Fashion Director
“The Emperor of All Maladies: A Biography of Cancer” by Siddhartha Mukherjee. I’m really into medical science, believe it or not.
Creative Ambassador at Large
“The Bottle Factory Outing” by Beryl Bainbridge. It’s like “Ab-fab” meets “Sanford and Son”—very twisted.
Chief Merchant, Executive Vice President
I just finished “In the Garden of Beasts” by Erik Larson, an incredibly vivid account of our U.S. ambassador’s tenure in Germany at the beginning of WWII. Now, on to Jeffrey Eugenides’ “The Marriage Plot.” (I will finish it on the way home from Europe.)
Chief Executive Officer
I just finished “Cleopatra” by Stacy Schiff and Joan Didion’s “Blue Nights.”
I am reading “Out of Egypt,” Andre Aciman’s fascinating account of three generations of his family’s life in Alexandria, Egypt.
Senior Vice President, Marketing and Communications
“The Blessing of a Skinned Knee” and “Raising Cain.” They are self-help books for raising young children. My son is a very rambunctious, high-energy 3-year-old, and my daughter is 5 going on 18, so I really need all the help I can get! I also just finished Simon Doonan’s last book, “Gay Men Don’t Get Fat.” It really is one of the most hysterical reads ever. No one does a better one-liner than Simon.
General Merchandise Manager, Executive Vice President
I received the book “Italian Gardens” from my team for Christmas. They know me well, especially that I love Italy and gardening. I am immersed in this book. Hopefully I can replicate some small piece of this outdoor art in my own way this spring.
