To those with enough self-assurance to pair Google Glass with head-to-toe Valentino, well, more power to you. But for the rest of us, “wearables”—as in wearable technology—have proved tricky to pull off. While we welcome the prospect of becoming untethered from our smartphones, we have yet to experience “techcessories” that are as fashionable as they are functional. Until now.

Opening Ceremony’s Carol Lim and Humberto Leon have partnered with Intel to create MICA, “My Intelligent Communication Accessory.” The smart bracelet combines Intel’s engineering with O.C.’s coveted aesthetic, in the guise of a luxe snakeskin cuff embedded with semi-precious stones ranging from Madagascar lapis to South African tiger’s eye.

On the tech front, MICA-which does not need to be connected to a phone, instead coming with its own two-year wireless service plan-provides access to text messages, Yelp, Gmail notifications, Facebook events, and your Google calendar, and allows you to send a selection of messages to important contacts.Look no further than Rashida Jones playing a busy exec in “The Value of Time” below to see just how functional this little beauty can be.

Barneys New York is thrilled to be the exclusive outside retailer of MICA-which is available for pre-order today. Let’s just say we know what we’re asking Santa for this year…
