After Paris Fashion Week last October, The Window declared that Peter Copping’s designs for Nina Ricci had mastered the “naughty/sweet French girl vibe.” This fall, Copping takes that mastery to a whole new level with the launch of his new handbag, La Rue.
La Rue—in case your French has momentarily failed you—means “the street,” which is the context in which Copping wanted the world to first meet his work of art. Below, two quintessential Parisiennes take the bag for a spin on Avenue Montaigne and Place Pigalle in animations debuting exclusively on The Window today. As you can see, La Rue is a fresh and feminine take on the classic doctor’s bag: both sturdy and structured with charming detailing throughout (think wrinkled leather, delicate pleating and a hidden leather-bound mirror). It is, of course, a fitting carryall for the classic Nina Ricci girl, who, as Copping recently reminded Women’s Wear Daily, is known as much for her “underlying strength” as for her effortless style.
