Even in the midst of New York Fashion Week, we can’t help but pry our eyes from the catwalk to take in a different kind of runway: the Oscars red carpet. As the pinnacle of Hollywood’s award season, the Academy Awards gives stars a chance to raise the fashion bar to new levels of glam and panache. And while we have to wait until Sunday to see who stuns, we turned to Marie Claire’s Creative Director, Nina Garcia, for a few predictions of how she might style each of these silver screen starlets.
Take a peek at Nina’s selections below and then pay a visit to Barneys.com to procure your own viewing-party ensemble.
“How to follow that epic Lanvin jumpsuit moment at the Globes? Go in the opposite direction with something girly, like this blue Chloé frock. It’s unexpected and a more unique, fashion-forward shape for the carpet. A bit flapper-esque, which Emma does well.”

“I love a nude slip gown on the red carpet, but they are hard to pull off. It takes someone with an ingenue look, and Felicity has just that. Talk about an English rose!”

“It’s hard to imagine a dress as captivating as her performance was in Gone Girl, but this violet Nina Ricci ought to do the trick. So ethereal against her fair skin and blonde hair.”

“The fashion world loves Julianne! Why? Because she has edge. She’s not just going for the pretty gown, she’s looking for something more daring. This black Lanvin dress‘s belt and feathered detailing are right on point. Throw in a studded pochette and an edgy ear cuff, and voila!”

“French women know how to pull off pink without looking too girly. Especially Marion. Her blue eyes and brown hair will pop against this powdery mauve and black J. Mendel gown. And with a slightly Grecian feel, it’s something a bit different for her.”

“The actress is known for rocking solids on the red carpet, and she would be stunning in this scarlet Narciso Rodriguez. Reese has a glamorous, old Hollywood feel to her that this dress would really accentuate. A major va-va-voom moment. Plus, there’s just something about a knockout blonde in a tight red dress. Total bombshell!”
