Last night was the fashion world’s version of the Super Bowl: the annual Met Ball (otherwise known by its grander title, the Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art).
This year, the occasion for celebration was the Costume Insitute’s new exhibition Punk: Chaos to Couture, and guests dressed accordingly. On one end of the spectrum was Carey Mulligan’s restrained Balenciaga dress, featuring a single oversized safety pin in homage to the punk theme, while Madonna went all out in ripped fishnet stockings, plaid, studs, safety pins and chains. (Feeling inspired? Shop a few of our favorite punk-inspired looks from Barneys New York.)
Our own team—never ones to abstain from revelry—made an appearance in some choice Barneys New York designers. Mark Lee looked rakish in a RAKE tuxedo; Daniella Vitale donned a JC Obando gown with Jennifer Fisher cuffs, a Feathered Soul bracelet and Monique Péan earrings; and Charlotte Blechman rocked a dress and jacket by Acne Studios with jewelry by Jennifer Fisher.
