Dispatch From L.A.: Meet The Men Behind Hoorsenbuhs

There’s a lot that piqued our curiosity about Hoorsenbuhs, the fine jewelry collection you’ll find at Barneys New York. For one thing, the name: we weren’t sure how to pronounce it, even less sure what it means. Then of course there are the pieces themselves—the precious metals and gems scream luxury, but there’s also a distinct rock n’ roll edge (think smoked silver and black diamonds).

Needless to say, we jetted off to their L.A. studio to find out more.

The name, it turns out, is derived from a centuries-old Dutch trading ship that was actually sailed by designer Robert Keith‘s ancestors. And as we got to know Keith and the brand ambassador, Kether Parker, we realized how much these guys still embody this swashbuckling spirit of adventure and discovery. (You’ll also find the ship’s heritage in the work itself—the stud link, a Hoorsenbuhs design signature, was modeled after the anchor chain.)

As for us, one of our favorite discoveries of the day were the Clique rings that snap together so you can pair them as you please. Our second favorite discovery? These guys are talented musicians—they even gave us an impromptu performance.

Now it’s your turn to get to know this enigmatic duo…
