We’ve been obsessed with the concept of Zoë Kravitz before Zoë herself existed, which is to say, as soon as her parents Lenny Kravitz and Lisa Bonet locked eyes. We saw the potential for a fiercely creative individual with a blend of Lenny’s rockstar spunk and Lisa’s boho style. Needless to say, Ms. Kravitz, now 25 years old, more than measures up.
We loved her appearances in Californication, and Zoë was reason alone to watch X-Men: First Class. Currently the actress is promoting her new film, Divergent, based on the popular YA fantasy series from Veronica Roth. The impressive cast includes Shailene Woodley, Kate Winslet, Tony Goldwyn, Theo James, Maggie Q, Ansel Elgort and Ben Lloyd-Hughes, who plays Will, the love interest of Zoë’s character Christina. The film comes out March 21st, and it wouldn’t be a bad idea to make note on your iCal now.
As if being Hollywood’s of-the-moment actress weren’t enough, Zoë earns more cool-girl cred as the front woman of the band Lolawolf, which she founded with James Levy and Jimmy Giannopoulos. They tend to play in Brooklyn, where all the band members live. Kudos if you’re able to gain entrance to one of their shows (tickets are famously hard to score), but in the meantime check out their track, “What Love Is.”
Now the true icing on the cake is that Zoë has style—in spades. With lots of black and white and a fair amount of frayed denim in her wardrobe, it’s clear this girl’s a rebel at heart. But she also knows how to glam it up on the red carpet. Balenciaga and Alexander Wang are among her favorites.
