One Shoe, Five Ways: Man Repeller & Jane Aldridge Step Into Narciso Rodriguez

The moment you’ve been waiting for is finally here: Naricso Rodriguez has launched an XO Exclusively Ours shoe collection for Barneys New York.

To celebrate, we called on two of our favorite fashion-fluent ladies, Leandra Medine of  Man Repeller and Jane Aldridge of Sea of Shoesto select one shoe and style it in five distinct ways. From mid-calf ostrich boots (yes, you read it correctly—ostrich) sported by Aldridge to two-tone suede booties worn by Man Repeller, they prove that each style is suitable to quite a few occasions—Vespa ride included.

Check it out below—and don’t miss what each has to say about her chosen one.

Barneys: Whats your favorite thing about these shoes?
Man Repeller: They’re impractically practical. Who knew white suede boots could be so versatile?

What was your thought process when deciding how to style them?
I wanted to figure four completely different scenarios—for the work place, a casual day with the girls, a night out and one more evening appropriate. I figured the more unusual the scenarios were, the easier it would be to convey how easy to wear they are.

True or false: Shoes make the outfit.
So true. It’s offensive that there is even an “or false” included.

Barneys: What’s your favorite thing about these shoes?
Jane Aldridge: Mid-calf boots have always been my favorite kind of shoe. It’s a punky look and can be very elongating. I’m a complete sucker for pointed toes as well. This is a perfect classic boot, but the color blocking is unexpected and artistic.

What was your thought process when deciding how to style them?
I wanted to feel out the range of looks you could do with these boots, which is really limitless because they are so versatile! With classic white jeans and a black blouse, they’re an easy choice. With a tough oversized leather vest, they can go a little Mad Max. I think my favorite look was with the Narciso Rodriguez colorblocked blouse and Thierry Mugler pencil mini. The yellow in the blouse picked up the yellow in the boots and the velvet detailing on the skirt emphasized the beautiful black suede of the boots.

True or false: Shoes make the outfit.
SO TRUE! Can’t compromise on shoes. Clothes you can be flexible on, but you have to have the right shoe.
