L’Wren Scott Showcases New Collection and Exclusive Bags at Barneys New York

Fresh off the success of her Fall 2011 fashion show, designer L’Wren Scott showcased glamorous apparel and accessories in an exclusive trunk show at Barneys New York last week.

Clients admired wares from both her spring and fall collections, both of which were saturated with vivid colors.  Particular favorites included bright, sequined cardigans; slinky brocade sheath dresses; and taffeta ruffle blouses.

A particularly adored spring item: this pale gold, romantic-yet-modern, asymmetric lace dress.

Another moment of excitement: Ms. Scott unveiled a gorgeous array of autumn handbags, available exclusively at Barneys New York.  The lucky ladies in attendance clamored to place pre-orders for what will certainly become one of fall 2011’s most coveted accessories.

(These bags are still under wraps for now, but have a sneak peek above and at left of the sample donned by Ms. Scott at the event: the Lula bag in Bordeaux croc.  We’ll showcase all of the models in detail soon, and they’ll be available for pre-order, so stand by!)

Ms. Scott began her career as a model in Paris, showcasing clothes for the likes of Chanel and Thierry Mugler.  But her penchant for highly individualistic style was clear from the beginning, and she eventually moved to Los Angeles, where she became a stylist and costume designer.

Her flair for drama infuses her apparel lines (“Scott marches to the beat of her own drummer,” said Style.com of her latest collection, which it called “terrific”).   Her collections even boast theatrical names, such as “Too Much Blood” and “Under My Skin.”

L’Wren is a great favorite among Hollywood’s bon ton.  Just this past Sunday night, at the 83rd Annual Academy Awards, screen goddesses Amy Adams and Penelope Cruz walked the red carpet in Ms. Scott’s designs.
