It could have been a scene right out of the movie itself, as La La Land star and front-runner for this year’s Best Actress Oscar Emma Stone lounged poolside to the accompaniment of a live jazz quartet. She looked relaxed and elegant as she was attending the event we co-hosted with Vanity Fair Wednesday night in honor of the film. Among the intimate setting of L.A.’s Chateau Marmont, Stone was joined by La La Land’s writer and director, Damien Chazelle, and a celebrity-rich crowd for an evening of music, drinks, and dinner to celebrate the film and its 14 (yes 14!) Oscar nominations this season, as well as support the ACLU.

In addition to Emma and Damien, the film was represented through attendees including producers Marc Platt and Fred Berger, actress Rosemarie DeWitt, the film’s choreographer Mandy Moore, and musical team Justin Paul, Benj Pasek, and Justin Hurwitz. The Hollywood heavyweights were joined at a jazz-themed sit-down dinner by their hosts, Vanity Fair’s editor-in-chief Graydon Carter and executive West Coast editor Krista Smith, and Barneys executive chairman Mark Lee.

Scroll on for a closer look at the evening’s festivities and join us in offering our congratulations to La La Land, the season’s top-nominated film. Be sure to tune in Sunday evening to see the cast take to the stage to accept the film industry’s top honors.
