When called upon, we have no doubt that Diane von Furstenberg could whip up a killer handbag, but Zach Galifianakis? Ronnie Wood? Now we’re seriously intrigued.
This week, style icon Patti Hansen brings Hung On U, her collection of ’80s-inspired cross-body bags, to Barneys New York. To celebrate the line’s launch and give back, she’s asked talented friends and family to design one-of-a-kind canvas bags that will be sold via online auction house Charity Buzz from September 22 – October 12.
All proceeds from the auction will benefit the Epidermolysis Bullosa Medical Research Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to helping medical scientists learn more about EB, its causes, and the development of a cure. This cause is of particular import to Hansen, who firmly believes in the power of doing good (while looking good).
To help raise awareness and funds, Hansen called on friends (Christian Louboutin, Rashida Jones, Debra Messing) and family (husband Keith Richards, daughters Alexandra and Theodora Richards) to put their own personal spin on customized versions of the bags.
