What better way to celebrate our newly renovated digs in Los Angeles than with a come-one, come-all fete with our friends at HOLA? Enjoy a few pics of the party below, but first—a few words from Mr. Ambassador himself, Simon Doonan.
So many anniversaries!
Wednesday night saw the unveiling of our stunningly revamped, reimagined, and renovated Beverly Hills flagship. It was also the 20th anniversary of Barneys’ arrival at this location. And most meaningful of all, it was the 25th anniversary celebration of the founding of HOLA—Heart of Los Angeles—the Downtown L.A.-based organization which champions the needs of under-resourced youth.
On this sparkling and historic night—the third anniversary (another one!) of our love affair with HOLA—the Wilshire Boulevard store never looked more stylish and glamorous. It was packed to the rafters with HOLA supporters, all anxious to stock up on fall designer must-haves, thereby supporting the efforts of HOLA president Tony M. Brown and his unstoppable team.
Film by Melodie McDaniel.
The eclectic crowd included everyone from James Caan to Advanced Style guru Ari Seth Cohen, in town for the premiere of his new documentary. Melanie Griffith, Alanna Hamilton Stewart, Linda Caan, Elizabeth Berkley, and Tobey Maguire all added Hollywood lustre. Meanwhile, the fashion design community turned out in force, including Greg Chait, Irene Neuwirth, Juan Carlos Obando, Jennifer Meyer, Scott Sternberg, Monique Lhuillier, Justin Kern, Stephanie Danan, Ana Khouri, and artist Rob Pruitt, who spent most of the evening inside a spray booth customizing J Brand denim.
Barneys’ Richard and Lisa Perry shopped and mingled with guests while the senior team, including Mark Lee, Daniella Vitale, Dennis Freedman, Charlotte Blechman, and Tomoko Ogura, all surveyed the scene like proud parents.
After an amazing performance by the HOLA Big Band—instead of their usual classic selection, they played a swinging version of jazz standard Moanin, a personal fave of yours truly—the crowd headed to the newly opened Freds restaurant for chicken marsala and the premiere of Melodie McDaniel’s beautiful and touching film HOLA: Heart of Los Angeles.
Looking forward to next year’s anniversary of all these great anniversaries.
