Gobble, Gobble: The Barneys Team Does Thanksgiving In Style

Thanksgiving may be our favorite holiday of the year—what could be better than a whole day devoted to eating and napping (and maybe some online shopping)? Pretty much nothing. To whet our appetites for this Thursday’s festivities, we asked the Barneys team—as we’re wont to do—about what they’ll be eating and wearing this year. Turns out Thanksgiving-chic does exist (and no, it does not involve elastic waistbands).

I will be in Bedford for Thanksgiving, where our dogs love to go on long walks and make noise walking through all the fallen leaves. Basco’s brushed flannel bomber jacket and Belstaff’s Marsham turtleneck will keep me warm, and Barneys New York canvas and leather dog leashes and collars are going to keep all of us well coordinated.

I am always very casual on Thanksgiving because I cook. This year I will wear my R13 boyfriend jeans and a Barneys New York cashmere sweater in a festive color. I love making traditional, old-fashioned devil eggs to start. They are so good with champagne.

Thanksgiving is the only time when I do not try to be creative. My goal is to make the most tender roast turkey, the fluffiest mashed potatoes and the smoothest pumpkin pie. It’s all about comfort at Thanksgiving and two of my favorite things to wear are an Exemplaire saddle shoulder turtleneck sweater with Incotex corduroy straight leg pants.

I am staying bundled up in the city this year. I’ll wear a CO-OP parka for a quiet stroll outside and a soft hoodie for inside on the sofa. I love a homemade pumpkin pie.

This Thanksgiving I am not doing the cooking, but I won’t show up empty handed. I will be sure to bring a hamper filled with goodies from the Fred’s food collection in Chelsea Passage, like the chocolate-covered pretzels and graham crackers. I love the fact that I can fill the hamper with my own personal assortment of goodies.

For Thanksgiving, I must say my favorite things are all of the traditional sides and desserts—I’m not a big turkey fan! My daughter and I make all the delicious sides—stuffing, yams with marshmellow fluff (yes, FLUFF!), green beans, tart tartin and pumpkin pie—and my father will be making the turkey. I will be wearing my cream motorcycle leggings by The Row with an oversized tan cashmere sweater by The Row as well.

I will be eating organic turkey (white meat) with mountains of Brussels sprouts. Luckily my husbear likes dark meat.
