Shiseido Artistic Director Dick Page created two looks—a naturally punk eye and a naturally ladylike lip—both inspired by the Fall 2012 Narciso Rodriguez collection. To contrast Narciso’s signature architecture and luxurious materials, Dick took a homemade-punky approach with the makeup. Based on the idea of two different women living in the same world, he showcased a contrast between pristine and mismatched by showing the line-up of looks in random order. “Models come out and they’re individuals—you’re not sure what you’re going to get,” he said.
The Narciso face was all about creating a clean, simple and uncomplicated base to highlight the dramatic eyes and lips. Dick started both looks with well-moisturized skin by applying a wash of (4) Dual Balancing Foundation (everywhere, except the eyelid). Using a foundation sponge, he lost the edge of the lip, to avoid a harsh line of demarcation. He then applied concealer as needed, avoiding the eyes.
The first look was strong and punky using bright orange and chartreuse colors. Dick created these looks using (5) Shimmering Cream Eye Color in Techno Gold and (2) Luminizing Satin Eye Color Trio in Fire. Continuing to use the (1) Shiseido Small Eye Shadow Brush, he applied the (3) Accentuating Creamy Eyeliner in Black in a very thick, haphazard line across the top lash line. Using the same brush, he then created a “cat scratch” line along the bottom lash line. The look should be scribbly, as the eyes don’t have to be perfectly matched. Note: no mascara was used, and brows were left au naturel. For the second look, he emphasized lips, while leaving the eyes and brows bare.
For the first look, Dick kept the emphasis on the eyes by applying Lacquer Rouge in Camel. He tapped it on using his fingertip to tone down the natural red in the lip. For the second look, Dick created three versions of a painted, ladylike lip using red, orange and reddish-brown hues from the new Lacquer Rouge line (launching fall 2012). He prepared the lips by moisturizing them with lip balm. Using a (1) Small Eye Shadow Brush, he then applied Lacquer Rouge in Blaze, Drama or Savage, following the natural line of the lip.
