To celebrate Barneys’ new shoe floor at the Madison Avenue flagship, we asked a few of our favorite friends to share their “shoe love letters” with us, and for each one we receive, we’re making a $1 donation to the Human Rights Campaign to help further their work in fighting discrimination against the LGBT community and expanding marriage equality around the country.
Well, Cyndi Lauper—singer, songwriter, legend—went above and beyond the call of duty: She hand-wrote the lyrics to the song “Sex is in the Heel” from her upcoming Broadway show, “Kinky Boots.” (Cyndi has long been committed to this cause. Of the gay community, she’s said, “They have never turned their back on me. I will never turn my back on them.”) Take a listen to the song here, and if it doesn’t have you counting the days until the opening act, then you’re positively mad.
But wait—we want to hear your love letters too. In addition to donating $1 to the HRC for every letter we receive, we’re also awarding a $5,000 Barneys New York gift card to one lucky letter-writer. So what are you waiting for? Enter here, but hurry—the contest ends Friday.
