Another fall has arrived here at the Barneys New York campus—and the professor is in. Jay Bell, our VP of men’s designer collections, is guest lecturing on The Window today. His topic of choice? Color. Below, Jay shares highlights from the A/W 2013 runways as well as get-the-look recommendations from the racks of Barneys.com.
The season to werk your wardrobe, layer by lovely layer, is upon us. Fall 2013 offers something for everyone, from the awesomely avant-garde to the classically chic. It’s all here! New York, Milan, and Paris are burning… red hot!
CONFIDENT IN CRIMSON For those who appreciate standing out in a crowd, shades of crimson define a look of cavalier confidence. Designers across the globe embrace everything from ruby to magenta, often mixing the unlikely pair in a single must-have look.
Complementing Spring’s palette of jewel tones, Fall 2013 grants the dandy in you a perfect excuse to augment your Spring wardrobe, seamlessly extending and transitioning one season to the next.

SHADES OF BLACK
And for the rakish rogue, black continues to be the new black. Shades of ebony create a cool chic, especially when juxtaposed against varying textures and hues. (N.B.: A small dose of velvet goes a long way!)

CAMEL AND GRAY: TIMELESS NEUTRALS
Purists rejoice as high style stands out in a neutral palette of grey or camel. Your future-perfect profile is the focus when presented against the clean slate.

And finally, drum roll please, Saint Laurent Paris and Dries van Noten, two of our favorite Fall 2013 collections (each of whom are new to Barneys.com!) cater to the elegant and the badass in one fashionable swoop! A romantic yet devil-may-care individuality envelope the collections, and serve some of the strongest pieces of the season.
