A word of warning: Luella & June, the blog of Texans Bradley Agather and Alison Gross, is dangerously addictive. You might find yourself wading deep into their archives, telling yourself, “Just one more!” Or maybe you’ll get sucked into their “What I Love Right Now” roundups, otherwise known as cryptonite to wallets everywhere.
But now that we’ve gotten the caveats out of the way, feel free to peruse their happy, colorful site. Indeed, we were so enamored with it that we asked Bradley to tell us all about Dallas style, her love of neons and her 2012 fashion resolutions.
What inspired you to start the blog?
Luella & June began as a creative outlet for me but is now one of my greatest passions. I’m constantly reading fashion magazines. In fact, I’ve managed to turn 11 years’ worth of “Vogue”s into a great side table in my office.
What’s the most coveted item in your wardrobe at the moment?
A vintage neon-green Chanel cardigan. It was originally my mother’s. Each button is a different color—it’s straight out of the early ’90s. I borrowed it so often that my mom finally gave it to me.
What are your 2012 fashion resolutions?
My 2012 fashion resolution is to invest in more classic pieces! My favorite items of clothing always end up being the pieces that stand the test of time, such as my tailored blazer from The Row or a classic handbag. Classic pieces build the foundation for a great wardrobe.
What is the best advice you have ever received?
Do what you love, and love what you do. This advice came from my mother. She has always told me that it is simply unacceptable to spend your days doing something you don’t love, and she is right. It’s life changing, really. I genuinely enjoy what I do, and I work that much harder because it’s something I love.
What are the standout trends in Dallas at the moment?
Color is huge! While Dallasites are never ones to shy away from color, they usually reserve their bright pieces for the spring/summer season. I love that I’m seeing more and more people wearing neons and Crayola hues during the cooler months.
If you were accidentally locked in Barneys New York overnight, what would we find you wearing in the morning?
You would find me enjoying a Fred’s Margherita pizza (shopping all night would make a girl hungry), sitting in front of rows of Céline handbags. I would be wearing this Derek Lam leather mini; a classic Proenza Schouler stripe tee; a layered Alyssa Norton necklace; Stella McCartney sandals (I love the touch of neon on the toe!); a wrist stack consisting of this Pamela Love cuff, these Jennifer Fisher square bangles and a Lynn Ban silver handcuff bangle; YSL Rouge Volupté Perle 110; a Givenchy Medium Leather Nightingale; and to top it all off, a pair of cat-eye sunnies from The Row.
