Have You Had Your Daily Cup of Couture Today?

Hold the coffee. We’ll take a daily cup of couture instead.

The blog Daily Cup of Couture is the ever-evolving inspiration board of Caitlin Fisher, a San Francisco dweller with a yen for fashion. Caitlin calls her site “a daily sip of design inspiration found in fashion, weddings & all the other glamorous things in life,” Well, consider us addicted.

Caitlin’s style is decidedly sophisticated and ladylike—think pearls, cashmere and pastels. She’s a lover of the classics, and she knows how to wear them well. Below, she shares with The Window her current must-haves and style secrets.

What inspired you to start Daily Cup of Couture?
For many years I kept files stuffed with fashion and design inspiration and realized that I would love to find a way not only to organize them, but also to share them with others. Thus, I began Daily Cup of Couture as a creative outlet to curate the beautiful things I am currently inspired by.

How would you describe your aesthetic?
Classic and polished, yet always oozing with femininity.

Most luxurious summer vacation spot?
Little Dix Bay, British Virgin Islands—the epitome of understated elegance.

What item should every woman have in her wardrobe this season?
A crisp white cover-up, as it is truly timeless and looks chic when worn at any pool or beach. It is perfectly paired with oversized sunnies … preferably Chanel.

What’s at the top of your summer reading list?
Vogue Weddings: Brides, Dresses, Designers—I am counting down the days until it comes out!

Fashion rules to live by?

  1. Invest in classic pieces.
  2. It is always better to be overdressed than underdressed.
  3. Dress for your body. The way something fits you is just as important as what you are wearing.
  4. When wearing classic pieces it is always acceptable to add over-the-top accessories.
  5. Wear the clothes, don’t let them wear you!

Where do you turn for fashion inspiration?
I am constantly inspired by the “looks behind the books.” While I adore reading fashion magazines (truly one of my greatest obsessions!), it is often the editors behind them from which I find the greatest personal style inspiration. Lately, I am loving the looks of ladies such as Lauren Santo Domingo, Meredith Melling Burke, Joanna Hillman and Giovanna Battaglia … the list could go on and on!

1. A.L.C. sleeveless short dress 2. D.L. & Co. thorn apple candle 3. Tabitha Simmons Evita sandal 4. Acqua di Parma Assoluta travel spray 5. Balenciaga Papier A3 6. XO Cathy Waterman long pearl necklace 7. XO Smythson Little Black Book 8. Manolo Blahnik Shariffac

If you were “accidentally” locked in Barneys overnight, what would we find you wearing in the morning?
Well, there certainly would be no sleeping involved as this would be a dream come true! I would most likely start by searching for a “must-have” dress as I am a huge dress girl! This darling A.L.C. number is perfect. Then I would make my way to the new shoe department, which is probably where I would be spending hours of my time. I would have to scoop up a pair of these gorgeous Tabitha Simmons “Evita”s and then also a pair of these leopard Manolo Blahnik flats as reinforcements just in case my feet start to hurt! I could certainly not resist stopping to peek at the jewelry and would walk out with some of these beautiful Cathy Waterman pearls, which are always a wardrobe staple of mine.

Lastly, I would stuff a large black Balenciaga Papier A3 with many of my necessities such as a Smythson notebook, a D.L. & Co. candle and a little Acqua di Parma.
