Atlantic-Pacific, Blair “Bee” Eadie’s aptly named self-style blog, chronicles her captivating bicoastal relationship with fashion. An East Coast transplant – now living and working in San Francisco – Ms. Eadie’s aesthetic can best be described as a mishmash of each coast’s sensibilities.
Ms. Eadie’s look is different on any given day, although she strikes a balance between preppy polish (she’s a native of Washington, DC) boho-chic, and an adventurous approach to accessorizing – she’s been known to rock an arm full of bangles, a pair of cat-eye sunglasses, or a cheeky hair bow. The resultant look is one that is playful, beguiling, and certainly all her own.
Below, we chat East versus West, and Ms. Eadie gives us her picks as we move into fall.
___________
Barneys New York: How would you describe your personal style?
Bee Eadie: I would say my style is ever-changing, but is defined by a preppy, sophisticated undertone. Since moving out west, I have embraced more of an edgy aesthetic, as well as the bohemian look that is so prevalent here. My style does change from day-to-day; I see each outfit as an opportunity to capture a different look and feel.
BNY: Who/what influences your style?
BE: I don’t typically look to celebrities or movies; I don’t read gossip magazines or even own a TV. Rather, I am influenced by blogs, as well as my surroundings. Working in retail and fashion has opened my eyes to so many inspiring images, designers, and people.
BNY: If you were “accidentally” locked in Barneys overnight, what would we find you wearing in the morning?
1. Proenza Schouler PS1 Bag 2. T by Alexander Wang blouse 3. Zero + Maria Cornejo Mackie skirt 4. Giuseppe Zanotti Double Platform Pump 5. Repossi Berbere Cuff
BNY: What fresh fashion trends are you excited about for fall?
BE: Layering is an element of styling I incorporate into so many of my looks, so I am always excited about the cooler months approaching. For fall, I am in love with the wide leg pant, the fresh use of vibrant colors, and the return of ‘70s glam. I am especially enamored by all of the fabulous colored bottoms out there that I feel will become a cornerstone of my fall wardrobe.
BNY: Androgynous fall fashion is everywhere. What items in your wardrobe exemplify the trend?
BE: I adore the ‘boyfriend’s borrowed suit’ look, but rather than the traditional black, grey and white palette, I love it done in rich fall colors like khaki, red, and navy. It gives off the 1960’s Ivy League prep vibe that has always been a favorite of mine.
BNY: Fur for fall?
BE: While I am in love with all the fur happening for fall – specifically saturated colored fur – I stick to faux myself. I have to say, if I were a lover of real fur, I would find a way for this jacket by The Row to live in my closet!
BNY: What are your fashion words of wisdom that all women should follow?
BE: Wear the clothes; don’t let the clothes wear you.
BNY: How does West Coast and East Coast fashion differ?
BE: I find the East Coast to be more preppy and ‘buttoned up,’ while the West Coast channels a carefree feeling. While I believe my style is more closely aligned with the East Coast, living in San Francisco has opened my eyes to so many new ways of looking at fashion.
