Last month, Barneys Fashion Director Tomoko Ogura told us that one of her favorite trends for spring was patchwork and collage, and one of the designers leading the charge in that direction was undoubtedly Proenza Schouler, whose Spring 2013 collection earned rave reviews. Pattern Play, the title of our Proenza Schouler Spring lookbook, is meant to reflect this mash-up mindset.
The PS duo, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, cited Tumblr as one inspiration for this collection, and that sense of juxtaposition and serendipity is on full display: photo-printed leather, exotic skins in day-glo colors, grommets, tweed and perforation all mingle into one bright, happy, confident collection.
Below, we go backstage at the lookbook shoot, and pick out some of our favorite pieces of the season. We say, go ahead, get graphic.
