If you’ve seen Moulin Rouge, The Great Gatsby, or Romeo + Juliet, you know that Baz Luhrmann and Catherine Martin don’t do things halfway. They don’t stop until their productions are over the top—literally dazzling—and so it was with last night’s blowout celebration of BAZ DAZZLED, our 2014 holiday collaboration with the wildly creative duo.
The party started on Madison Avenue for the reveal of the BAZ DAZZLED windows. After a few words from our own Mark Lee and Luhrmann and Martin, Pentatonix (the wildly popular a capella group you might know from this little Beyoncé mash-up) took the stage to perform their modern renditions of classic holiday tunes, custom-scored for the occasion. As they sang, a slew of performers—including dancers, drum lines, and ice skaters who took to a lane of synthetic ice—shut down the street in front of the flagship store with a sparkling spectacle. At the end of the show, the big reveal: Curtains in front of the windows dropped to unveil our show-stopping installations.
After catching their collective breaths, guests moved a few blocks north, where more surprises awaited at the Central Park Zoo. Snow, woodland creatures, performers on stilts, graffitied forests, a secret snowglobe speakeasy, and more magical touches emerged over cocktails, dinner and dancing. After guests like Dakota Fanning, Joe Zee, Hamish Bowles, Kate Foley, Pat Cleveland, Richard and Lisa Perry, Aurélie Bidermann, Maria Cornejo, Zaldy, Estelle, Jessica Joffe, Victoria Justice, Lily Kwong, and more took it all in, they were treated to another performance by Pentatonix, who took to their table to sing “Nature Boy”…and a few Beyoncé tunes for good measure.
Our BAZ DAZZLED celebration may be behind us, but the magic is only starting. Check out the photos below, then visit the Madison Avenue flagship to experience the windows, performances, and the exclusive BAZ DAZZLED holiday collection for yourself!
