New York City may be where our heart is, but there’s no denying that our style is a truly global enterprise. Yesterday, the nominees for the British Fashion Council’s annual British Style Awards were announced—and there was no shortage of Barneys-approved designers in the illustrious bunch.
The nominees for Designer of the Year, the top honor of the evening (which will be presented in London on November 27), are Stella McCartney, Christopher Kane and Mary Katrantzou—all of which are carried at our Madison Avenue flagship, among other Barneys locations. (McCartney and Kane can be found on the sixth floor, while Katrantzou’s on four…for those of you who want to get a head start on your celebratory shopping.)
But that’s not McCartney’s only honor: The designer is also up for Brand of the Year, along with fellow Barneys brand Burberry. Meanwhile, Erdem is nominated for the New Establishment Award, Nicholas Kirkwood for the Accessory Designer of the Year Award, and Richard James for the Menswear Designer of the Year Award.
We’re also particularly proud of Sophie Hulme, the young designer whose colorblock buckle tote is a standout of the season (and it’s exclusively ours!). Hulme is nominated for the Emerging Talent Accessories Award. Sophie, we knew you when…
Congratulations to all the nominated designers!
